44.01 has taken a key step into Europe, hiring Kari-Lise Rørvik as Country Manager of Norway. Kari-Lise will lead 44.01’s efforts across the Nordics to build partnerships, develop projects and help scale up permanent CO₂ removal through mineralisation.
Kari-Lise was most recently Director of Technology and Innovation at Gassnova, playing a crucial role in Norwegian efforts to research, develop and demonstrate CO₂ handling technology. She brings 24 years of experience as a geologist in Norway – a leading market in carbon management and storage.
Kari-Lise Rørvik said: “I’ve been inspired by the energy, ambition and purpose of the 44.01 team and am excited to help scale its mineralisation technology and turn bold ideas into real-world projects in Norway and the Nordics”
Talal Hasan, CEO of 44.01 said “Europe is at the forefront of global decarbonisation efforts, and mineralisation can play a significant role in helping the continent meet its ambitious Net Zero targets. We’re excited for Kari-Lise to lead our expansion into the Nordics. Her technical knowledge, leadership, and experience make her the ideal person to scale 44.01 in the region.

Started in Oman in 2021, 44.01 is now scaling up its proved mineralisation technology in the Middle East and internationally. The reactive rocks 44.01 uses to permanently mineralise CO₂ are found on every continent around the globe. Deployed at scale, mineralisation technology has the potential to eliminate billions of tonnes of CO₂ worldwide.
About 44.01
44.01 eliminates CO2 by turning it into rock. The company’s pioneering technology accelerates the natural process of CO2 mineralisation to remove CO2 permanently in just months. 44.01 takes CO2 captured from the atmosphere, or from hard-to-abate industrial processes, helping decarbonise vital industries and ultimately return the atmosphere to sustainable levels of CO2. The process is safe, scalable and lasts forever.
